Nearpod
6th Grade ELA 2
Chris Howard & Nora Green

Problem Identified: Many students were not completing writing assignments about their reading.
Hypothesis: If we use Nearpod to present information and elicit students' responses, then we will increase the number of students completing assignment as measured by their responses.
Actionable Step: When we started to use Nearpod we focused on having students only address why the identified signpost was important. They would watch a film clip that illustrated a signpost, be given the signpost, and then have to analyze why that signpost was significant to the film clip. Students started being more thoughtful about the signposts. As we shared example of student work, other students’ writing started to improve.
Overall Findings/Impact: All students wrote about their reading responses. Some showed great understanding of their reading and everyone tried. Nearpod is great for short responses but is not conducive to longer writing.
