6th Grade ELA
Jessica Gowell
Problem Identified: I noticed that students would stop working when they were faced with a challenge especially students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPS).
Hypothesis: If I explicitly teach growth mindset statements to students within my class during small group instruction and one to one conferences in ELA, then students will minimize time off tasks as measured by on task work.
Actionable Step:
Post signs using signs using the language that students can relate to
Try looking at your classroom and infusing growth mindset in any physical space that students frequently occupy.
Overall Findings/Impact: My findings were overall successful at solving the problem as students seemed to be a temporary shift from “ fixed “ but I do not think that the students internally believed their abilities is part of their development and growing overall as students.
