Problem Identified: The gap in learning is that students have been struggling to master beginning technique which impacts a variety of different criteria. Some students have been struggling to use their left hand to change the pitch of the notes as well as several students have ongoing technique issues that have interfered with their tone causing them to produce a "scratchy sound."
Hypothesis: If students use a well written rubric to guide their instruction, then they will be able to be more intrinsically motivated and move towards being self-directed learners as measured by improvements in rubric levels.

Overall Findings/Impact: Students using a variety of formative assessment techniques has improved their progress and given students ownership over their own learning.
