Quizlet Live in Science

Problem Identified: In Science class there is a great deal of content vocabulary when learning about the body systems. We wanted to have the students learn this vocabulary in an engaging way that was not tedious.

Hypothesis: If we use Quizlet Live then student to student discourse and engagement will increase as measured by number of on-task interactions between student groups.

Data Collection: Teacher observations and student scores were used.

Actionable Step: “This can be used to help students learn vocabulary. In Science class it was also helpful because pictures of the body systems were used along with the vocabulary words which helped support students’ understanding. Furthermore, Quizlet can be used to help ESL students learn content in their own language.

Overall Findings/Impact: I believe that using Quizlet was successful in helping students learn content specific vocabulary. The students enjoyed competing against each other and had to work with each other to win Quizlet live. Also, there were 3 ways to learn vocabulary before competing at Quizlet live:

  1. Flash cards

  2. Matching Game

  3. Test

My only concern was that the one person was left out of Quizlet live because her cards were in a different language.
