Problem Identified: I observed positive results from our fishbowl discussion activity. Some students showed a significantly better understanding of the information from the text during the discussion while others showed more limited progress.
Hypothesis: If students in 6th grade science participate in a facilitated fishbowl discussion, struggling writers will get a better understanding of the content to provide evidence in writing to support a statement. This will be measured by a written reflection assignment to see what changed or was added to the students comprehension.
Data Collection: Though limited, Luka was able to produce more writing after listening in on discussions about the characteristics of living things.

Actionable Step: “Use Fishbowl Discussion to help struggling readers and writers demonstrate their understanding of text.
Overall Findings/Impact: The Fishbowl Discussion activity paired with the use of the vocabulary “bingo” board was successful for struggling writers and readers.
